Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins (born in Mexico) is the Mexican American sportscaster. She works as an ESPN anchor on news, and she hosts SportsNation at times. She began her career at ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from age nine. Her ability was crucial in securing her first post as a production assistant for Univision Miami in which she assisted the production of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Her first job was as reporter for CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009 she moved from Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an investigative reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. She covered stories about the issue of immigration and trafficking drugs across both Texas as well as Mexico. Also, she would fill in on occasion as a weather and sports anchor. Then she anchor and wrote at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She wrote pieces on Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason Finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. In addition she also co-hosted and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She was appointed as the sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. She held the same position for Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo for the UniMas Network. Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. The girl was born on November 22nd the 22nd of November, 1985, in Mexico City. There is an older sister. The family moved from Mexico to Miami in 1992 after leaving Mexico. Her parents divorced shortly thereafter and, in 1995, she was married a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 of kidney cancer. In June of the year 2006, Antonietta took a week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working there. Antonietta was about to graduate from high school but already knew the things she wanted to do. In the end she fell in love with the school. The university offered her major. Her studies were completed and she was accepted to the University for a master's degree in media studies. Professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM, and was member of her class, developed an ongoing friendship with the student. Mark Bergmann inspired her to believe in herself and his enthusiasm for journalism deeply affected her. She, was determined to live up to the expectations of him and not let him down.
